National Biodiversity Action Plans (BAPs)

The UK BAP was published in 1994 and identified species and habitats for priority conservation action. These have also been identified for England, and the England Biodiversity Strategy seeks to influence public policy across a range of sectors. In 2008, a new framework was agreed in England that placed priority species and habitats within a ‘ landscape scale’ approach to conservation. Progress in implementing BAPs is recorded by partner organisations using the Biodiversity Actions Reporting System (BARS).
